Zell Sells Trib for a Quarter?!?!

Two-week deep-discount offer

Looks like price-cutting has no boundaries in this economy. Case in point, the financially-challenged Chicago Tribune is dropping its price from $.75 to a quarter. Now that is a deep discount.

But like many sales, there are some restrictions. The offer is only good for the Monday through Saturday editions. It is only available at select locations (newspaper boxes and participating 7-11 convenience stores around Chicago). And it only runs until December 13.

Oh, it doesn't include that coveted coupon-filled Thursday Thanksgiving edition.

The marketing plan is aimed to boost subscriptions on the recently redesigned paper. Sure hope Sam Zell approved it.
