Trains Delayed on Multiple CTA Lines After Incidents on Tracks

Multiple incidents on Chicago Transit Authority tracks Wednesday afternoon delayed trains during rush hour.

Red and Purple Line Express trains were first delayed around 5 p.m. due to “an unauthorized person on the tracks,” the transit agency said. Minutes later, it reported Howard-bound Red Lines trains were standing near Lake for the same reason.

The agency said first responders were on their way to the scene to assist an “injured customer.”

The Red Line trains were being temporarily rerouted to the elevated tracks between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton as fire department personnel helped the injured passenger off the tracks.

Service was said to be resuming by 5:15 p.m., but delays were expected.

Minutes later, Blue Lines trains were standing near Kedzie for an unauthorized person on the tracks. The CTA said some trains were operating with residual delays due to the incident.
