Chicago University Makes Top 10 in List of World's Best Colleges

It was the first year all top-three placements went to institutions in the United States

The University of Chicago has been named to be among the top 10 colleges in the world.

Located in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the city's South Side came in the No. 10 spot in the annual QS World University Rankings.

For the thirteenth year, QS World University analyzed more than 700 schools across criteria including academic reputation, and international student-to-faculty ratio. 

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology was crowned the world’s best for the fifth consecutive year, followed by Stanford, Harvard, England’s University of Cambridge, and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) rounding out the top five.

Other Midwest colleges to make it in the top 100 were the University of Michigan (23), Northwestern University (26), University of Wisconsin-Madison (53), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (66), Ohio State University (88), and Purdue University (92).
