“It's a Conspiracy!”

The busboy turned administrative assistant for the Cook County Board told a judge today "It's a conspiracy!" as his bond was increased to $200,000.

Tony Cole's arrest for allegedly violating an order of protection, and subsequent firing has caused a volcano-like eruption of rumors at the board and led to the firing of CFO Donna Dunnings.

It's possible Cole could be right about the forces of the county mounting against him.  Commissioner Tony Peraica, who is a consistent critic of Stroger, said the $200,000 bond seems high for a parole violation.  Cole's defense attorney noted that parole officers have visited his client an unusually frequent number of times.

Cole is not likely to post bond, according to his public defender.
