Convicted Illinois fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko was sentenced Tuesday to 126 months, or 10-and-a-half years, in prison.
"You had an inner position at the political table," said Judge Amy St. Eve. "You used it for yourself and your buddies."
"The sentence will send the message that enough is enough," she said.
Rezko, a past fund raiser for convicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, was convicted in 2008 on 16 counts of fraud, bribery and money laundering crimes.
Rezko served time in solitary confinement at Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional Center and later was moved to a county jail in Wisconsin. He already has served three-and-a-half years of the sentence handed down Tuesday.
"I deeply regret my conduct," Rezko said Tuesday. "Never again will I make the same mistakes."
Besides connections to former Blagojevich, Rezko worked as a fundraiser for a young Barack Obama prior to his election to the White House. He did not have any involvement with Obama's presidential campaign.
Rezko also volunteered to be used as a witness to Blagojevich and power broker William Cellini trials, but was never called upon.
