Thieves Steal Money Orders From Canaryville Post Office

Police are seeking two suspects in the theft, which occurred Wednesday morning

Two men robbed a post office Wednesday in Canaryville on the South Side.

They entered the post office at 11:22 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Halsted Street and asked an employee for a money order, according to Chicago police. The Stockyard Station post office is located at 4101 S. Halsted.

One of the men grabbed the entire booklet of money orders out of the employee’s hands and they both ran to a silver sedan outside, police said. The car was last seen heading east on 41st Street.

They were both described as men between 19 and 25 years old and between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9, according to police. One of them wore his hair in short braids.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

No injuries were reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.
