The CTA is tightening its belt to keep the lid on customer costs a bit longer.
Chicago's public transit authority says it will postpone improvement projects and make other cuts in an attempt to fill a $155-million shortage in its budget.
The changes will not include service cuts or fare hikes this year, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Instead, the CTA plans to buy fewer new buses and delay rehab work at some train stations. Even that won't be enough, but other steps will be taken to keep rising costs at bay.
