A well-known business in Countryside, southwest of Chicago, was badly damaged by fire late Wednesday.
Flames at one point shot through the roof of the building that houses Terry's Byke Haus, on the 9200 block of West 55th Street. The bikes inside were heavily damaged by fire and water.
People who lived in the building managed to escape and were not injured in the fire that started at around 11 p.m., officials said.
The business is known for a giant gorilla that sits on 55th Street waving to customers.
There was no indication by 6:30 a.m. Thursday as to what caused the fire.
