A teenager was killed and two other people were injured in a rollover crash early Sunday in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.
About 1:30 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was driving a Toyota SUV with the 17-year-old girl in the passenger seat in the 3600 block of North Major, when she failed to stop at a stop sign and the vehicle crashed into a Chevrolet car, according to Chicago Police.
The SUV was speeding and rolled over several times after the crash, police said.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
The driver of the SUV was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.The 46-year-old man driving the Chevrolet was taken to Community First Medical Center, where his condition also stabilized.
The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
