Teen Hiker Swept Over Waterfalls, Dies at Indiana State Park

A teenager has died after falling over a waterfall at an Indiana state park.

Authorities say the body of a 17-year-old boy was recovered Tuesday near Hoffman Falls at Clifty Falls State Park, 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Louisville, Kentucky.

Indiana conservation officers say two people were hiking off a designated trail when one slipped into the moving water and went over the edge. His name was not immediately released. The park is known for its canyon walls, ravines and waterfalls.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources strongly urges visitors to stay on trails.
