A teenage boy was found shot to death Saturday afternoon in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 6500 block of South Marshfield at 12:18 p.m. found 16-year-old Martell J. Lawrence unresponsive on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Lawrence, of the 1700 block of West Marquette, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m., authorities said.
Police said he had documented gang affiliations and a history of arrests.
