Teen Bicyclist Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run Crash on Chicago's North Side

The teen was traveling south on Western Avenue when a turning vehicle struck him, hten fled the scene

Chicago police are searching for a suspect who allegedly struck and seriously injured a teen bicyclist on the city’s North Side on Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, the 17-year-old was riding a bike near the intersection of Western Avenue and Montrose Avenue when a car, turning westbound onto Montrose, struck the victim. 

The teen was seriously injured in the collision, but after the crash the driver of the vehicle, identified as a dark-colored Lexus SUV, fled the scene of the crash, and now Chicago police are searching for the driver responsible.

Police say that the vehicle, which has a darker-gray colored lower trim, a sunroof, and tinted windows, has a shattered rear door window as a result of the collision, and may have door damage as well. Authorities also released surveillance images of the vehicle involved.
