A teenage boy was critically wounded Friday evening when police say he shot himself in the head as officers chased him in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The chase started when officers saw the boy, who police said was between 15 and 17 years old, with a gun about 6:55 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Keeler, according to Chicago police.
When they questioned him, he ran away and eventually shot himself in the head, police said. Paramedics took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
