Teen Girl Stabbed Multiple Times in Morgan Park

She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and is in serious condition, police said

A teenage girl was stabbed multiple times as she tried to flee an attacker in Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side, authorities said.

Around 1:10 p.m., the 15-year-old was in the 10800 block of South Bishop Street when she was stabbed several times by an unknown person, Chicago police said.

The girl was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and is in serious condition, police said.

According to authorities, the teen had run away from home and went to the neighborhood to meet a man. The man then drove her to a wooded area a few miles away, where he allegedly attacked her.

The teen was stabbed 10 times as she fought back against the man police said tried to rape and kill her.

"Well the person absolutely knows this area because it's a dead end back there," community activist Andrew Holmes said, noting the desolate spot is also near an expressway, which can drown noise from that location.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives are investigating, police said Monday. Detectives hope nearby restaurants may have captured the suspect on camera.
