A 15-year-old boy who was riding his bike was critically injured in a hit-and-run on the city's Northwest Side Saturday.

The boy was riding his bike in the 4200 block of West Cortland in the Hermosa neighborhood at about 1:30 p.m. when a car traveling west on Cortland struck him. The driver of the car then fled the scene, according to police news affairs.

The boy was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Police could not immediately provide a description of the vehicle.

The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
