Now is the time to get hired for holiday work at Target.
The Minneapolis-based chain will host hiring events this Friday through Sunday at all Target stores throughout the Chicago area to hire 2,500 seasonal workers for area stores.
"For the second consecutive year, Target is hosting 1,816 simultaneous, in-store hiring events nationwide to ensure stores are fully staffed to help guests during the busy holiday shopping season," a Target spokesman said in a statement.
Hiring events take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
Candidates are able to apply for positions ahead of the weekend’s hiring events at TargetSeasonalJobs.com and schedule interviews with store leaders.
Those who attend hiring events may have the opportunity to interview on-the-spot and receive a conditional job offer, according to a statement from Target. New seasonal hires will begin at $11 an hour.
It's all part of a plan to hire about 100,000 seasonal Target workers across the country, plus 4,500 for distribution centers and fulfillment facilities. About 3,500 of those jobs will be at stores across Illinois.
"We look forward to meeting thousands of candidates in communities across the country this weekend at local hiring events,” said Janna Potts, Target's chief stores officer. "The busy holiday season also brings opportunities for current team members to add extra work hours to their schedule, which they’ve told us is important to them."
