Two suburban Chicago Target stores are among several locations across the country that will be closing next week.
The Minnesota-based company will close a dozen underperforming stores in February, including one in Romeoville and another in Matteson.
Other locations slated to be shuttered include several Midwestern stores, in Eastland-Harper Woods and Benton Harbor, Mich., plus two in Hastings and Fergus Falls, Minn.
All are set to close their doors on Feb. 3, 2018, the company said.
The Target closure is just the latest to hit Matteson, after Lincoln Mall a short distance away was demolished last year.
Earlier this week, Toys R Us announced it was closing 182 stores nationwide, including seven in Illinois. One of those locations is in Matteson.
Sam's Club also plans to close its Matteson and Romeoville locations. The Matteson location was expected to shutter Friday.
