The Target closure is just the latest to hit Matteson, after Lincoln Mall a short distance away was demolished last year.

Earlier this week, Toys R Us announced it was closing 182 stores nationwide, including seven in Illinois. One of those locations is in Matteson.

Sam's Club also plans to close its Matteson and Romeoville locations. The Matteson location was expected to shutter Friday.
