Target Hosts Holiday Hiring Events This Weekend

Looking for a job this holiday season?

Target plans to hire 8,000 seasonal workers for 84 stores around the Chicago area, the retail chain said this week, and hiring continues this weekend.

From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Target will host "hiring events" at stores nationwide for open positions. In Illinois, Target aims to hire 9,000 seasonal employees around the state and 290 employees for its DeKalb distribution center.

Target hopes the uptick in hiring will "ensure stores are fully staffed to provide guests with a fun and easy holiday shopping experience."

"All team members hired will begin at $12 an hour minimum wage, part of Target’s commitment to increasing its minimum hourly wage to $15 per hour by the end of 2020," the chain said in a statement. "Target will also continue to offer extra hours to current team members to accommodate their interest and availability."

Candidates can apply in advance of the hiring events at TargetSeasonalJobs.com. Pre-scheduled interviews will be conducted in-store.

"Candidates who attend the hiring events may have the opportunity to interview on-the-spot and receive a conditional job offer," Target said.

Job roles for seasonal positions include working at distribution centers and fulfillment centers, stocking toys and decorations, working with guests and supporting Drive Up, Order Pickup and ship-from-stores offerings, the chain said.
