Six Flags Great America is surging into the record books with a new ride.

The amusement park announced Thursday that it plans to open a new water coaster at Hurricane Harbor next year called the Tsunami Surge.

The water attraction will be the tallest water coaster in the world at 86 feet high, according to the park. It will feature “water-blasting jet-propulsion technology for lightning fast uphill speeds and adrenaline-pumping drops.”

The ride includes 950 feet of slides and tunnels taking riders at speeds of 42 feet per second.

It will also feature a first-of-its-kind “aqualucent” visual effects to “create mind-blowing bursts of colors and dreamlike patterns” as riders race through tubes.

“Six Flags is the undisputed leader in delivering record-breaking rides and world-class thrills,” Six Flags Great America Park President Hank Salemi said in a statement. “The new Tsunami Surge water coaster is in a class all by itself, defying gravity to blast riders uphill through 950 feet of exhilarating drops, twists and turns. This exciting, new addition is the perfect complement to an already incredible lineup of the biggest and most innovative attractions in the Midwest.”
