Just over a week after bringing in former Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler, Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau is reunining with another one of his former players from the Windy City.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Thibodeau and the Timberwolves have agreed to a two-year, $28 million deal with former Bulls power forward Taj Gibson.

Gibson, who was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder before the NBA trade deadline last season, spent the first seven full seasons of his career with the Bulls, including five with Thibodeau at the helm. The forward averaged 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game duirng his tenure in Chicago, and was known as a high-energy rebounder and defender during Thibodeau’s reign.

In Minnesota, Gibson will join up with a young core that is looking to add some veteran leadership to the mix. Gibson will once again team up with Butler, who was acquired in a trade at the NBA Draft in late June, and the duo will look to bring Minnesota back to the postseason for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

Meanwhile, occasional reports have tied Thibodeau with another former Bulls star, as Derrick Rose has been linked to the Timberwolves. It’s unclear how serious those rumors are, but it would mark yet another Chicago connection for a team that is quickly loading up on them.
