Suspects Accused of Killing Pregnant Teen, Cutting Baby From Her Womb to Appear in Court

Ochoa's family, including her grandmothers who traveled to Chicago from Mexico, said they will be in court to demand justice for the slain teen

The suspects accused of murdering a pregnant Chicago teenager before cutting her baby from her womb are expected to be in court Monday.

The mother-daughter duo, Clarisa and Desiree Figueroa, who were both charged in the murder of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa, are slated to appear before a Cook County judge at noon for their arraignment. The mother's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, who was charged with covering up their crime, will also be in court.

Ochoa's family, including her grandmothers who traveled to Chicago from Mexico, said they will be in court to demand justice for the slain teen.

Authorities say Ochoa was lured to the Figueroas' home on April 23 with the promise of items for her baby. Once there, she was strangled before her baby was "forcibly removed" from her womb, police and prosecutors said.

Her body was found hidden in a trash can behind the home, according to authorities.

Clarisa Figueroa is also accused of bringing the infant to Advocate Christ Medical Center, posing as the child's birth mother.

The baby remained on life support at the hospital as of Monday. Family members said Friday the child is occasionally able to breathe on his own and is responsive. Doctors previously indicated the infant showed some brain activity in recent days, the family said last week.

The family has thanked the public for their prayers.
