Police Release Video of Suspect in Brutal DePaul Stabbing

The man is accused of attacking a woman, slashing her throat and face, police say

Chicago police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a brutal stabbing near the city's DePaul campus earlier this month.

Police Wednesday released a surveillance video of the suspect they say stabbed a 22-year-old woman while she was walking home in the 2300 block of North Halsted at approximately 3:15 a.m. on July 18 in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The woman suffered lacerations to her face and neck, and was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition after the brutal attack.

The suspect is also being sought in the theft of a motor vehicle in the 300 block of North DesPlaines Street on July 17, police say.

Police are advising residents to always be aware of their surroundings, to always walk in pairs, and to report suspicious activity immediately.

Anyone with information on either of the incidents is encouraged to call Area Central Detectives at 312-747-8380.
