Surveillance Video Shows Suspects in Woman's West Loop Mugging

An anti-violence advocate in Chicago was mugged while walking in the city’s West Loop Sunday.

Police said the 33-year-old woman, whose name is not being released because she is the victim of a crime, was walking around 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Fulton Avenue when she was “aggressively” pushed to the ground.

The woman, who told NBC 5 she was on her way to spin class at the time, struck her head, causing it bleed as a man went through her pockets and personal belongings, taking several items, authorities said.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Surveillance video from the area appeared to capture the incident, showing two men in hooded sweatshirts walking in the area. One is later seen running with what appears to be a purse in his hand before a car pulls up and the man jumps in. The vehicle then flees the scene.

The suspects are described as men between 18 and 20 years of age, one wearing a pink hoodie and the other a mutli-color hoodie, according to police.

No one was in custody as of Wednesday afternoon. Area Central Detectives are investigating.
