Students, Parents Show Support For Suspended Suburban Football Coach

The athletic director notified parents of the head coach's suspension in an Oct. 25 letter

Approximately 100 parents and students in west suburban Roselle turned out for a board meeting at Lake Park High School to show support for the school's suspended football coach.

Parents were notified that Head Football Coach Chris Roll was indefinitely suspended in an Oct. 25 letter sent by Athletic Director Peter Schauer.

Sources told NBC 5 that Roll, as a mandated reporter, expressed concerns after hearing a rumor about a volunteer coach who may have been involved in a sexual misconduct incident. The school board suspended both Roll and Schauer, the athletic director.

Multiple parents and children said they were standing behind Roll, because he did what was right.

In the letter to parents, Schauer said he couldn't share specific details about the suspension, citing workplace confidentiality rules.
