Super Marios “Flash Mob” Hancock Building

More than 90 costumed Marios take over the Magnificent Mile

If you saw Super Mario on the El, walking along Michigan Avenue or at a downtown coffee shop on Wednesday, it wasn't a fluke. There were more than 90 of them roaming around the Loop.

The costumed Super Marios descended on the John Hancock Center around lunchtime and burst into a spontaneous "flash mob" dance to promote Nintendo's latest Mario installment: Super Mario 3D Land. The game is the first of the series created in 3D and will hit stores Sunday.

Those who dressed up were part of the flash mob marketing company Attack!, which coordinates similar promotional activities nationwide.
