When will this rain be gone? Not for a couple more days.
The Chicago area gets a reprieve on Friday with sunshine and highs between 60 and 69, NBC Chicago's Andy Avalos predicts.
It's a long time coming after weeks of on-and-off showers, but we'll need to endure another round of wet before the end of the week. A flood watch went into effect at 7 a.m. Wednesday across the metro area and lasts through Thursday morning.
Rain continues this morning with possible thunderstorms rolling in by the afternoon. The National Weather Service predicts an extra inch of rain to fall in some areas, creating more flooding in streams and rivers in Lake and Kane counties.
There's more good news to come, though. Following Friday's mild forecast, Avalos predicts more sun on Saturday with temps climbing to the low 70s.
Rain returns Sunday with a chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. Sun also competes with rain for the first part of next week.
