A Wisconsin corn maze is looking to help those who feel like they have no way out.
Govin’s Farm in Menomonie unveiled its 2019 corn maze Wednesday, taking an unexpected, but powerful route for this year’s theme.
This year’s 11-acre maze features the words “Your life matters” and the Suicide Prevention Lifeline number, 1-800-273-TALK, followed by the words “about suicide.”
“We have always picked a theme that has meaning to our family and this year suicide was something we unfortunately had to face and learn about,” the farm wrote. “We hope to make a difference in someone’s life and help them understand that they matter.”
Last year’s maze incorporated a Packers helmet with a “100 seasons” celebration and the words “Congrats Packers.” Other mazes at the farm have paid tribute to farmers, the Wounded Warriors Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Alzheimer’s research, Garth Brooks and more.
The small family farm, located between Interstate 94 and Highway 12/29, plans to open the maze to the public on Sept. 21. It will remain open through Oct. 27.
