A teachers aide at a suburban high school is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student, according to police.
Elyse Snyder, 28, was arrested Thursday when DuPage High School District 88 informed police of reports that she had sexual contact with a 16-year-old student.
Snyder is an aide and substitute at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park. She is charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, and two counts of criminal sexual abuse, all felonies, according to Bolingbrook police.
She and the victim admitted to having consensual sex at her home in Bolingbrook on two occasions in early April.
“The Willowbrook administration was informed of a personnel issue and immediately took action to ensure the well-being of our staff and students," principal Dan Krause said in a statement posted to the district’s website on Friday.
"The safety and security of our students is our No. 1 priority, and this individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” Krause added.
Snyder’s bond was set at $50,000 Friday morning. Authorities did not release information on her next court date.
