A quick trip to the gas station turned into a massive payday for a suburban resident this week.
Kankakee resident Jesus DeLeon was the proud winner of a $4 million scratch-off prize in the Illinois Lottery this week. DeLeon purchased the “100X The Money” ticket while he was waiting for his car to fill up with gas at a rural gas station, and didn’t realize he had won until an employee at the gas station scanned his ticket.
“It could happen to anybody,” he said.
DeLeon says that he will buy a house and invest in an early retirement with the prize money.
The gas station, located in Herscher, will receive a $40,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
