Suburban Man Wins Huge Jackpot on Scratch-Off Ticket

A trip to buy diapers turned into a massive payday for a suburban man recently.

According to the Illinois Lottery, Joliet resident Charles Dickhaut won a $4 million prize when he bought a scratch-off ticket at a Shorewood gas station.

Dickhaut says that he was buying diapers at the gas station and purchased two of the $20 tickets. He lost on the first ticket, but then won the $4 million grand prize on the other.

“I still can’t believe it,” he said.

He says that he will invest his winnings and will pay off his home, but will continue to work even after his massive windfall.

The Speedway, located in the 900 block of Brook Forest Avenue, will receive a $40,000 bonus for selling Dickhaut the ticket.
