Suburban Man Charged After Dog Fatally Shot by Police in Chicago

A south suburban man has been charged after a Chicago Police officer responded to his location Sunday night and fatally shot a dog in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. 

Issac J. Kelly, 24, faces one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to Chicago Police. 

Officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. to a call of a person with a gun in the 6600 block of South Paulina, according to Chicago Police. 

While at the scene, “an officer discharged his weapon to destroy a dog,” police said. 

A weapon was recovered and one person, identified as Kelly, was taken into custody, police said. Additional details were not provided.

Kelly, who lives in Monee, was scheduled for a Monday bond hearing.
