A Halloween store in suburban Chicago is pulling holiday stickers after a family reported that they gave their children chemical burns.
Spirit Halloween in North Riverside said it has been in contact with the customers and is pulling the “Day of the Dead Glitter Face Tattoos” from their shelves while they investigate the claims.
According to Kevin Mahoney, the store's general counsel, the store has received no other complaints about the stickers.
According to the Salinas family, 11-year-old Isabella and 6-year-old Jazmin put them on Wednesday. About 20-30 minutes later, the girls' mother said they started to feel a burning sensation.
"It was hurting my face really bad," Isabella said. "It was itchy, and then it was stinging."
"They started crying because it was hurting them," mother Amanda Salinas said. "What testing went on that allowed this?"
Their father took the tattoos off and rinsed their faces, but overnight, the wounds started to puss and the pain became more intense.

Amanda Salinas added that her daughters were treated by an area doctor for "chemical burns." She said she tried to contact the company, but received little information about why this might have happened.

"When I told them I would appreciate you taking this off the shelf this morning to the corporate, they completely ignored it," she said.
Amanda Salinas said she's not seeking anything from the store, but wanted to share her story to warn other parents.
Spirit Halloween told NBC Chicago they do not manufacture the stickers, and that the investigation remains ongoing.
