With the above-average temps gracing the Chicago area Thursday comes a chance for rain and storms.
Temperatures are expected to warm into the upper-70s and near 80 degrees Thursday afternoon ahead of a round of potential thunderstorms.
Isolated thunderstorms are likely by the late afternoon hours in far northern Illinois, mainly in areas north of Interstates 88 and 290. The threat will spread south across the Chicago area by the evening hours as a cold front moves across the region.
The storms are not expected to be severe, but strong thunderstorms could develop with winds up to 50 mph, hail around the size of a penny and heavy rain possible.
Conditions will look to dry up by Friday, with highs dipping back into the upper 50s and low 60s, where they will likely stay for Saturday.
Predicted temperatures for Sunday’s 2015 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will start in the mid-50s in the early morning hours and rise into the upper-70s by the afternoon. Conditions look to stay mostly clear and breezy for the morning.
