Stolen Puppy Worth More Than $7,600 Returned to Aurora Pet Store

The English Bulldog puppy was stolen from the Furry Babies store at Fox Valley Mall

An English Bulldog puppy worth more than $7,600 has been returned to the Aurora pet store that police said it was stolen from Sunday.

A man brought the puppy back around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to the Furry Babies store at Fox Valley Mall, according to store manager Cristal Ornelas.

The man said he was approached by someone who asked him to "take this; I think it’s a lost dog they’re talking about."

Ornelas described the man as sketchy and said he asked about a reward.

In a news release sent Monday, Aurora police said they were searching for a couple suspected of stealing the dog.

Police said the suspects used a fake ID online to adopt the puppy, and then visited the dog in the store, according to a preliminary investigation. The suspects went to the store with a young baby and also reportedly gave false information there, police said.

They eventually took off with the dog, police said.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call the Aurora Police Department at 630-256-5500.
