It might officially be spring in Chicago but it looks like Old Man Winter isn’t quite ready to leave.
The week started off mild, with temperatures reaching into the upper-40s Monday and even into the 60s Tuesday, but things will take a much colder turn later in the week, bringing the possibility of snow to the Chicago area.
Conditions turned windy and cooler Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Rain showers are expected to develop heading into the evening and overnight hours with a chance for a few thunderstorms.
Most of the metro area was under a general risk for storms, with thunderstorms possible, but the greatest risk for strong storms was in far southern counties, forecasters said.
The storms that passed through the Midwest turned deadly Thursday. Two people died in Wisconsin when a van spun out of control on an icy interstate northeast of Milwaukee in the morning, NBC News reported.
The vehicle slid across the median into oncoming traffic, crashing into an 18-wheeler, according to NBC News. The van's driver and a passenger were killed.
A bubble of high pressure Friday will bring sunshine and cool temps with light winds.
