A student at Southern Illinois University's campus in Carbondale was in the hospital Friday after he fell from a fourth floor residence hall window.
In a message, Chancellor Rita Cheng identified the student as freshman Tyler Gravitt of Matteson.
Campus police responded to University Hall shortly after 2 a.m. Friday. Police said Gravitt was taken to a local hospital, but the chancellor's office said he later was transported to a St. Louis hospital, where he's in intensive care.
Authorities said Gravitt's fall appears accidental, but SIU police are still investigating.
