Girl, 4, Shot on Chicago's South Side While Sitting on Porch

A 4-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder Tuesday evening while sitting on the porch of a home on Chicago's South Side.

The child was shot about 7:38 p.m. in the 1000 block of West 88th Street in the city's Gresham neighborhood.

She was taken by family to a nearby hospital and then transported by ambulance to Stroger Hospital where her condition had stabilized.

Police department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted that "good progress" was being made in the investigation. He said a person at the house where the shooting occurred has a "history" with Chicago police and may have been the intended victim of the gunfire.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting as authorities continue to investigate. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to police at cpdtip.com.
