Marynook Crash Sends 2 Kids, 2 Adults to Hospital

Four people—including two children—were rushed to the hospital after a car crashed into a telephone pole Thursday night on the city’s South Side.

The crash occurred at 83rd Street and Dorchester Avenue in the Marynook neighborhood about 7 p.m. Two children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital and two adults were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago Fire Department officials said.

The power was turned off in the area “for safety,” officials said.

Photos shared on the Chicago Fire Department's Twitter page show what appears to be a yellow sedan smashed sideways into a splintered telephone pole.

Investigators were still on the scene. The cause of the crash not immediately known.
