‘Soul Train' Creator Don Cornelius Arrested

Producer and former host suspected of domestic violence

Don Cornelius, the creator and former host of the hit television show "Soul Train," has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

Los Angeles Police were called to the 72-year-old's home on Mulholland Drive Friday after someone reported a domestic dispute. It is not clear, however, whom he was suspected of assaulting.

Cornelius was taken into custody and transported to jail, where he was booked for investigation of felony domestic violence. He was released Saturday morning after $50,000 bail was posted. He is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Don Cornelius was the first host and executive producer of "Soul Train" when it premiered on WCIU-TV in Chicago in 1970. He ended his run as host in 1993.
