Sopel, Burish Highlight Blackhawks' Alumni Game Roster

The St. Louis Blues will have plenty of star power on their roster for the 2017 Winter Classic alumni game, but the Chicago Blackhawks are hopeful that their team of past greats will be able to compete for a victory at Busch Stadium.

On Friday night, the Hawks announced their roster for the game, which will take place before the Winter Classic this January. They will be going up against a Blues team featuring several NHL record holders, including Wayne Gretzky and Martin Brodeur, but the Hawks won’t be bereft of talent.

Several members of the 2010 Blackhawks that won the franchise’s first Stanley Cup championship in nearly 50 years will be on the ice in St. Louis, as Adam Burish, Ben Eager, and Brent Sopel were all named to the alumni team. 2013 Stanley Cup winners Jamal Mayers and Daniel Carcillo will also be on the roster for the contest.

Here is the full list of players that will be participating when the two sides battle in the alumni game:

Adrian Aucoin, Murray Bannerman, Adam Burish, Kyle Calder, Daniel Carciillo, Jim Cummins, Eric Daze, Ben Eager, Reggie Kerr, Steve Konroyd, Dave Mackey, Jamal Mayers, Grant Mulvey, Troy Murray, Brian Noonan, Jack O’Callahan, Darren Pang, Steve Papst, Reid Simpson, Brent Sopel, Gary Suter, Jimmy Waite

The Blackhawks will be coached in the game by one of the franchise’s all-time best players, as Tony Esposito will be a co-coach along with another Hawks great as Cliff Koroll will be on the bench for the game.
