A 27-year-old Blue Island man accused of killing three young women after having sex with them defended himself Wednesday night.
Sonny Pierce, who is currently being held at the Cook County Jail on three first-degree murder charges, spoke to reporters via speakerphone at his mother's house.
"The only thing I am guilty of is having consensual sex with too many women," he said.
But prosecutors said DNA evidence and a video of Pierce having sex with one woman's lifeless body prove otherwise. They also suspect he may be tied to other killings.
Pierce is being held in connection with the deaths of Kiara Windom, 18, of Harvey; Kimika Coleman and Mariah Edwards, whose body has never been found.
Pierce admits having unprotected sex with the women but denies he killed them.
"I never killed anyone, choked anyone, stabbed anyone, shot anyone. I never did nothing. I'm innocent," he said.
Pierce's words mean little to Hallena Johnson, who still cries for her daughter, Kiara Windom, and wants the maximum penalty for her killer.
"She was a kind, loving child," said Johnson.
She keeps an entire table dedicated to remembering her daughter, complete with mother's day cards she vows to never take down.
"She made everybody happy. She made everybody laugh and everything. Without her, everybody is just falling apart.
