A missing Rolling Meadows man's son and daughter-in-law have spent the past two days helping police from three agencies retrace the steps.
“We’re not taking anything for granted right now," Vasudeva Kethireddy's son Shanta said. "At this point any sort of sighting any tip would greatly help us."
Security video shows the 76-year-old landlord at the end of the sidewalk entering a Chase bank Saturday afternoon at 69th Street and Ashland Avenue, then leaving after collecting rent at 68th Street and Emerald Avenue in Englewood. His worried son, Shantan, says that's nothing out of the ordinary.
"We were just trying to figure out whether he went there and was under duress," he said. "The video shows he clearly wasn’t."
Instead, Shantan thinks Vasudeva may have been carjacked.
“The last piece of information we got is that the car license plate had gotten snapped in a video around 70th Street and the Dan Ryan," Shantan said. "It didn’t show who was in it just that it was going toward the expressway."
Vasudeva has been carjacked before, his family said, just a year ago. He was knocked to the ground. He called his son from the emergency room when he came to.
Shantan told NBC 5 he's hoping if that happened again he’ll get a phone call soon with a happy ending.
