How NFL’s New Bag Policy Affects Bears Fans

Pack light if you're headed to Bears home games this season.

Officials from the Chicago Bears and the NFL announced a new policy that limits the size and types of bags allowed inside the stadium.

"Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size," officials said in a statement.

Here's what's allowed: Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed the dimensions 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. Small clutch bags about the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, also are allowed.

Medically necessary items will be allowed only after "proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose."

The NFL showed off clear vinyl bags with the NFL logo (pictured) as an example of a permissible bag.

"Our fans deserve to be in a safe and secure environment," said Jeffrey Miller, NFL vice president and chief security officer. "Public safety is our top priority. This will make the job of checking items much more efficient and effective."

The Bears and NFL warn that no storage will be available for prohibited items inside the stadium.
