Snow Piling Up in LaSalle, Livingston Counties

Snow has remained to the south and west of Chicago, but it’s wreaking havoc on parts of Northern Illinois.

A Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled in the viewing area, but snow is still causing traffic trouble in numerous spots.

At Pontiac Airport, a wind gust of 41 MPH was measured on Saturday morning according to the National Weather Service. The city itself has seen at least six inches of snow, according to authorities, and parts of Interstate 55 were closed because of multiple accidents due to the hazardous conditions.

Here are some of the other snowfall totals in impacted areas like La Salle, Grundy, Livingston, and Ford counties:

Campus: 4.5 inches 

Dwight: 2.0 inches 

Fairbury: 6.2 inches 

Flanagan: 11 inches 

Loda: 8 inches 

Long Point: 5.6 inches 

Lostant: 4 inches 

Paxton: 7.5 inches 

Peru: 4.9 inches 

Pontiac: 6 inches

Streator: 5.5 inches 

Winter Weather Advisories for northern counties were cancelled for Saturday as the projected path of the storm slid to the southern portions of the NBC 5 viewing area.
