Snow Totals Across the Chicago Area Sunday

Sunday's forecast will see low temperatures and some lake effect snow showers into the evening

The first of a series of snow systems moved across the Chicago area Saturday night and into Sunday morning, leaving more than an inch of accumulation in several areas with more expected to fall by Sunday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory for Cook County, McHenry and Lake counties in Illinois remains in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday. Lake County and Porter County in Indiana will also be under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 p.m.

Lake effect snow showers are possible in some lakefront locations as light snow could continue during the morning and evening hours. This could bring the two-day snow totals from 1 to 3 inches.

Here's a look at snow totals from across the Illinois area as of 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service:

  • SW Midway Airport: 3.0 inches (0.15 inches of liquid precipitation)
  • O'Hare Airport: 1.7 inches (as of 12:16 p.m.)
  • SE Chicago: 2.1 inches
  • Batavia: 1.6 inches
  • Crete: 2.9 inches
  • Elk Grove Village: 1.8 inches 
  • Glenview: 2.1 inches
  • Naperville: 1.5 inches
  • Oak Lawn: 2.1 inches
  • Rockford: 1.5 inches
  • Romeoville: 1 inch

Snow is also falling across much of northern Indiana: 

  • Lake Village: 2 inches
  • Crown Point: 1.8 inches 
  • Valparaiso, IN: 4.5 inches
