Despite unusually warm temperatures in the Chicago area for the start of the week, the city could see the season's first snowfall in a matter of days.
An active weather pattern that moved in Monday is expected to last throughout the week, bringing the chance for rain and possibly snow by the end of the week.
After a wet Tuesday, rain lingered into Wednesday morning as temperatures sat well-above average and near 60 degrees.
Things look to dry up Thursday as temperatures drop down into the upper-40s.
Friday will be breezy and cold with showers possible during the late evening and overnight hours. As temperatures continue to drop, there’s a chance for that rain to mix with some light snow by dawn Saturday, particularly in areas north and west of the city.
The snow will taper to flurries Saturday with a few inches of accumulation possible as highs drop into the low- to mid-30s, where they will stay Sunday.
How much snow the area will see is still unclear, as some models predict more than an inch while others show up to 8 inches in some areas.
