Snow Makes for Messy Chicago-Area Roads Ahead of Morning Commute

Lake County in Illinois remained under a Winter Weather Advisory through 9 a.m.

Snow continued to fall in parts of the Chicago area early Monday, making for a wintry morning and messy roads.

Lake County in Illinois remained under a Winter Weather Advisory through 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The area was expected to see continued lake effect snow, with additional accumulations around one inch.

That snow was expected to cause limited visibility in Lake and Cook counties, with moderate to briefly heavy snowfall.

The snow will likely decrease in intensity by late morning and early afternoon.

Experts warned commuters and motorists to use extra caution when driving, as recently plowed roads could become slick and hazardous.

Later in the week, a rain and snow mix is expected to hit the area on Wednesday, which could cause some travel concerns as temperatures will hover around 35 degrees during the day.
