Smash-And-Grab Burglars Hit Lincoln Park Clothing Store

Merchandise was stolen from a recently opened clothing store in Lincoln Park Christmas morning in a smash-and-grab.

Several items of clothing when offenders broke the storefront window of a Moosejaw store in the 1900 block of North Clybourn Avenue around 6 a.m., police said.

The value of the merchandise stolen from the store wasn’t immediately known. The store opened only a few weeks ago but it has already been targeted by burglars who appear to be going after its expensive coats.

"It's kind of a bummer on Christmas Day," said Jeff Brand, who lives down the street. "It's unfortunate they just moved here, we hope they do well and we don't like to see that happen to any retailers or homes."

Brand said he set up security cameras due to thefts that have occurred in the area.

"We get packages stolen occasionally," Brand said.

No suspects are in custody and the investigation of the incident is ongoing. Police also say they do not know if the same group is behind both robberies.
