Teenage Brother, Sister Stabbed in Sleepy Hollow Home Invasion, Sex Assault: Cops

A brother and sister in their late teens were stabbed during a home invasion and sex assault Monday in Kane County, police said.

The police chief for the village of Sleepy Hollow said it appears the teens will be OK after the violent episode near Saratoga and Belmont parkways. Police said a man in his 20s came in through an open door and sexually assaulted the girl and stabbed her. The girl’s teenage brother, police said, attempted to defend her and was also stabbed. Police said the brother and sister escaped to a neighbor’s home and called police.

A suspect was in custody and there was no danger to the neighborhood, police said.

Two butcher knives were recovered from the scene, police said, and evidence technicians were investigating a trail of blood that extended through the neighborhood.

Police said the brother and sister did not know their attacker and that he may have been high or drunk.

Police from St. Charles, Carpentersville and West Dundee were on the scene.
