SkyWest Flight From Chicago Diverted for Mechanical Issue

The airline said there was an indication of a problem with the steering of the nose gear

A SkyWest flight traveling from O'Hare International Airport returned to the airport shortly after takeoff Thursday for a mechanical issue related to steering, according to the airline.

The issue became apparent after SkyWest flight 378M took off from the airport, headed toward Peoria. The airline said there was an indication of a problem with the steering of the nose gear.

The plane turned around and landed safely without incident at 3:27 p.m., a Department of Aviation spokesperson said.

There were 46 passengers and three crew members on board.

The airline said it plans to look at the issue.
